{"id":82274,"date":"2023-09-08T08:00:03","date_gmt":"2023-09-08T06:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/?p=82274"},"modified":"2023-09-07T14:50:06","modified_gmt":"2023-09-07T12:50:06","slug":"the-best-charity-part-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/the-best-charity-part-5\/","title":{"rendered":"The Best Charity &#8211; Part 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">Charity can be given in many ways and in many forms, but today let us take a look at the best Charity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">1 | Giving to a hungry person<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">In one reported \u1e25adith, we find that the Prophet (<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfa<\/span>) stressed the importance of feeding the hungry:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">\u201cThe best charity is to satisfy a hungry person.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">This \u1e25adith specifically describes a particular recipient of charity and his condition which makes him qualify for a Muslim\u2019s charity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">He (<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfa<\/span>) also said,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u0645\u064e\u0627 \u0646\u064e\u0642\u064e\u0635\u064e\u062a\u0652 \u0635\u064e\u062f\u064e\u0642\u064e\u0629\u064c \u0645\u0650\u0646\u0652 \u0645\u064e\u0627\u0644\u064d<\/span><\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">\u201cNo wealth (of a servant of Allah) is decreased because of charity.\u201d [Muslim &#8211; 2588]<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">The value of giving is weighed heavily through the assurance that the giver\u2019s wealth will not be reduced in return.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">We all know that eating adequate meals is a basic human need. When we miss a meal, we\u2019ve under-eaten, or even when we are fasting, we learn to appreciate this even more. Although we don\u2019t fast for this reason, the hunger pangs and the lack of energy and restlessness are all enough for us to understand the bare minimum of what a hungry, poorer person may endure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">This makes it a moral imperative to give to the hungry, as advised by the Prophet (<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfa<\/span>). In turn, the giver will not only build awareness of the situation of people who are deprived of food and drink, but they will also develop a sense of empathy for them, and grow in gratitude for their own provision in comparison to the state of the many that are suffering from hunger.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">2 | Giving a drink of water<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">In another \u1e25adith, we are informed about the consumption of water by the recipient as the \u2018best\u2019 type of charity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">It was narrated that Hadhrat Sa\u2019d ibn \u2018Ubadah RA said,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">\u201cI said, \u2018O Messenger of Allah, my mother has died. Shall I give charity on her behalf?\u2019 The Prophet (<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfa<\/span>), said, \u2018Yes.\u2019 I asked, \u2018Which charity is best?\u2019 The Prophet (<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfa<\/span>) said,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u0642\u064f\u0644\u0652\u062a\u064f \u064a\u064e\u0627 \u0631\u064e\u0633\u064f\u0648\u0644\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0647\u0650 \u0623\u064e\u0649\u0651\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0635\u0651\u064e\u062f\u064e\u0642\u064e\u0629\u0650 \u0623\u064e\u0641\u0652\u0636\u064e\u0644\u064f \u0642\u064e\u0627\u0644\u064e \u0633\u064e\u0642\u0652\u0649\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0645\u064e\u0627\u0621\u0650<\/span><\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">\u2018A drink of water.&#8217;\u201d [Nasai &#8211; 3665]<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">The significance of water being the best type of charity is further emphasised by the situation the Prophet (<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfa<\/span>) advised this in: when giving charity on behalf of the deceased. Though this act is not limited to giving on behalf of the one who has passed, it\u2019s interesting to find that a necessity that gives life could simultaneously benefit the one who no longer lives, through the spiritual impact of giving.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">Moreover, there are profound benefits through giving water, and its purpose reflects being the \u2018best\u2019 type of charity. Water is a necessity to live. It\u2019s a crucial necessity for both health and sanitation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">And yet, millions of people suffer from a shortage of water, or even unsafe water, in impoverished areas. Contaminated water is at high risk of diseases such as cholera, typhoid, polio, and many others. The impact water has on a global level therefore sheds importance on giving this drink as charity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">3 | Giving to an estranged relative<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">The Prophet (<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfa<\/span>) also stressed the importance of giving charity to one\u2019s family members. In response to being asked about the \u2018best\u2019 type of charity, it was reported by Hadhrat Hakim ibn Hizam RA that,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u0623\u064e\u0646\u0651\u064e \u0631\u064e\u062c\u064f\u0644\u064b\u0627 \u0633\u064e\u0623\u064e\u0644\u064e \u0631\u064e\u0633\u064f\u0648\u0644\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0647\u0650 \u0635\u064e\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0647\u064f \u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0647\u0650 \u0648\u064e\u0633\u064e\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0645\u064e \u0639\u064e\u0646\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0635\u0651\u064e\u062f\u064e\u0642\u064e\u0627\u062a\u0650 \u0623\u064e\u064a\u0651\u064f\u0647\u064e\u0627 \u0623\u064e\u0641\u0652\u0636\u064e\u0644\u064f \u0642\u064e\u0627\u0644\u064e \u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0649 \u0630\u0650\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0631\u0651\u064e\u062d\u0650\u0645\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0643\u064e\u0627\u0634\u0650\u062d\u0650<\/span><\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">\u201cA man asked the Messenger of Allah (<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfa<\/span>), \u2018What act of charity is best?\u2019 \u201cThe Prophet (<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfa<\/span>) said, \u2018One given to an estranged relative.&#8217;\u201d [Musnad Ah\u0323mad]<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">By connecting with relatives through the act of charity, the Prophet (<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfa<\/span>) expressed this also as a way of upholding ties with family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">It was narrated from Hadhrat Salman ibn \u2018Amir RA that the Prophet (<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfa<\/span>) said,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">\u201cGiving charity to a poor person is charity, and (giving) to a relative is two things, charity and upholding the ties of kinship.\u201d [Nasai]<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">The emotional and physical responsibility here brings one closer to their family members, hence an act that benefits the family in the long-term. Through the act of charity within one\u2019s family, family ties are strengthened, family bridges are maintained, and the recipients are aware of the care and awareness given to them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">Giving ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah)<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">One of the blessings of being able to give charity in Islam is that a Muslim is able to give a charity in which its benefits are continuous, even after one has passed away.
