{"id":82819,"date":"2023-09-28T08:00:36","date_gmt":"2023-09-28T06:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/?p=82819"},"modified":"2023-09-27T14:28:40","modified_gmt":"2023-09-27T12:28:40","slug":"the-son-of-two-sacrifices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/the-son-of-two-sacrifices\/","title":{"rendered":"The Son of Two Sacrifices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">Specialities of Nabi\u00a0<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdf4<\/span><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u00a0<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\">\ufdfa<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">Isma`eel AS, the son of Ibrahim AS is famously known as Zabeehullah \u2013 \u201cthe one who was sacrificed for the Pleasure of Allah\u201d, but do you know that our Prophet Muhammed\u00a0<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfa<\/span>\u00a0was known as \u201cibnu zabeehatain \u2013 the son of two sacrifices.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">Why was he\u00a0<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfa<\/span><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u00a0<\/span>given this name?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">The answer is recorded in the authenic books of Seerah that whilst in the process of excavating through the earth to get to the well of Zam Zam, besides his only son Haaris, \u2018Abdul Muttalib had no other assistant to lend a hand. This is why he took an oath to the effect that if Allah\u00a0<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfb<\/span>\u00a0blesses him with ten sons, who would grow up to be his helping hands, he would slaughter one of them in the name of Allah\u00a0<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfb<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">When Allah\u00a0<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfb<\/span>\u00a0fulfilled this cherished aspiration by granting him ten sons, he was fast asleep one night in front of the Ka`bah when he saw a vision of a person instructing him:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" align=\"center\"><b><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u064a\u0627 \u0639\u0628\u062f \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0637\u0644\u0628 \u0627\u0648\u0641 \u0628\u0646\u0630\u0631\u0643 \u0644\u0631\u0628 \u0647\u0630\u0627 \u0627\u0644\u0628\u064a\u062a<\/span><\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">\u201cO Abdul Muttalib! Fulfil your vow that you had pledged for the Lord of this sacred house.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">On awakening from this dream, \u2018Abdul Muttalib summoned all his sons and revealed his vow and subsequent dream to them. With one voice they all submitted:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" align=\"center\"><b><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u0627\u0648\u0641 \u0628\u0646\u0630\u0631\u0643 \u0648\u0627\u0641\u0639\u0644 \u0645\u0627 \u0634\u0626\u062a<\/span><\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">\u201cFulfil your vow and do as you please.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">\u2018Abdul Muttalib drew lots for all his sons and \u2018Abdullah, his most beloved son\u2019s name came up in the draw. He grasped \u2018Abdullah\u2019s hand and proceeded with a knife towards the sacrificial quarters. When \u2018Abdullah\u2019s sisters witnessed this distressing sight, they were moved to weeping in anguish. One of them pleaded with the father to draw another lot with ten camels against \u2018Abdullah\u2019s name. If the lot is drawn in favour of the ten camels, slaughter the camels but we implore you to leave \u2018Abdullah alone. At that time, ten camels was the blood money paid to a murdered victim\u2019s family. When he drew lots a second time, \u2018Abdullah\u2019s name came up again. \u2018Abdul Muttalib added on ten camels and drew lots again. Once more, \u2018Abdullah\u2019s name came up. \u2018Abdul Muttalib continued adding ten camels each time he drew lots but on every occasion, \u2018Abdullah\u2019s name came up. When he eventually reached a hundred camels, he was spared when finally the camels\u2019 name came up. At that instant, \u2018Abdul Muttalib and the bystanders cried out in delight: \u201cAllahu Akbar.\u201d \u2018Abdullah\u2019s sisters carried him away from there and \u2018Abdul Muttalib slaughtered his hundred camels between mounts Saffa and Marwah.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">Ibn \u2018Abbaas RA says that initially, ten camels made up the blood money paid to a murdered victim\u2019s family. Amongst the Quraysh and other Arabs, \u2018Abdul Muttalib initiated the tradition of paying one hundred camels instead of the customary ten camels as blood money. Rasulullah\u00a0<span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\" dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\ufdfa<\/span>\u00a0also maintained this Sunnah in Islam. Following this incident, \u2018Abdullah was described with the title of Zabeeh (the sacrificed or slaughtered one).
