The PSA is deeply concerned about the dire financial situation at Coastal TVET College in KwaZulu-Natal, where reports suggest a history of salary payment difficulties and unfair dismissals of long-serving contract workers.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Islam International, the PSA’s Mlungisi Ndlovu elaborates on the challenges and financial situations Coastal TVET College faces.<\/p>\n

According to Ndlovu, the record shows workers have yet to be paid on time or at all.<\/p>\n

The PSA mentions the College’s history of salary payment difficulties in light of the recent declaration that bonuses will be fulfilled in March 2024.<\/p>\n

“We have to persuade the National Office of the Department of Education to intervene. We are now facing the situation where there are unable to pay service providers, as a result they decided to sacrifice over 60 contract workers, some who have been servicing the College for 10 years,” says Ndlovu.<\/p>\n

The PSA believes the interventions from the office of the Director General are giving no result and further states that Minister Blade Nzimande still needs to address these persistent challenges.<\/p>\n

“The college is collapsing as there seems to be no interest in terms of addressing the financial crisis at Coastal TVET College,” Ndlovu added.<\/p>\n
