In recent months, Lenasia has been grappling with a surge in car thefts, particularly in areas with inadequate security measures. The Lenasia Community Policing Forums (CPF) and South African Police Service (SAPS) have diligently coordinated efforts to thwart these criminal activities.<\/p>\n

Ebrahim Asvat, Chairman of the Lenasia CPF, highlighted the severity of the situation during a discussion with Radio Islam International. He revealed that 34 Toyota vehicles, totalling 34 within a month and a half, were among the primary targets.<\/span><\/p>\n

Asvat noted that despite challenges, several arrests were made with the assistance of external agencies, which contributed to a temporary decline in theft incidents. He pinpointed specific areas, including extensions 1, 7, and 8, and locations near Frontline supermarket and Bilaal Masjid, as hotspots for thefts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, Asvat highlighted that VW Polo vehicles were also being targeted alongside Toyota models. However, the CPF, in close collaboration with SAPS, intensified surveillance in these areas, resulting in a reassuring absence of reported incidents of stolen vehicles in the past two weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n

Given these developments, Asvat emphasized the crucial role of each community member in the fight against car thefts. He urged everyone to take simple yet effective precautionary measures, such as parking vehicles in driveways instead of on pavements, especially when visiting relatives or friends.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
