{"id":8922,"date":"2010-09-16T15:32:31","date_gmt":"2010-09-16T13:32:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.radioislam.org.za\/wordpress\/2010\/09\/16\/chicken-and-pasta-casserole-16092010\/"},"modified":"2010-09-16T15:32:31","modified_gmt":"2010-09-16T13:32:31","slug":"chicken-and-pasta-casserole-16092010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/chicken-and-pasta-casserole-16092010\/","title":{"rendered":"Chicken and Pasta Casserole (16.09.2010)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">300g pasta (screws or noodle)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">30 ml oil<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">500g chicken breast fillets, cut into thin strips<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">1 onion, thinly sliced<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">10 ml crushed garlic<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">20 ml chicken spice<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">10 ml barbecue spice<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">3 ml salt<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">2 green chillis, finely sliced<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">&frac12; bunch dhania (coriander) leaves<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">10 ml cornflour<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">30 ml water<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">Topping:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">125 ml dried bread crumbs<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">100 g grated cheese<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">10 ml dried mixed herbs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">Method:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">Cook the pasta in salted, boiling water for about 12 minutes until tender. Drain and set aside. Heat oil in large saucepan and braise onion until golden. Wash and drain chicken. Add to onion and cook, covered for 10 minutes. Add garlic chicken spice, barbecue spice, salt and chillis and cook covered for 10 minutes. Mix cornflour and water into a paste and add to chicken, cook until well blended, about 5 minutes. Add coriander leaves and stir. Grease a deep ovenproof dish and layer the bottom with half of the pasta, add the chicken and top with rest of pasta. Sprinkle dried breadcrumbs, grated cheese and mixed herbs on top. Bake in preheated 180c oven for 20 minutes.
