{"id":9079,"date":"2009-10-27T15:58:35","date_gmt":"2009-10-27T13:58:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.radioislam.org.za\/wordpress\/2009\/10\/27\/vegetable-casserole-271009\/"},"modified":"2009-10-27T15:58:35","modified_gmt":"2009-10-27T13:58:35","slug":"vegetable-casserole-271009","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/vegetable-casserole-271009\/","title":{"rendered":"Vegetable Casserole (27.10.09)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">&nbsp;<\/span>  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">2 potatoes (cut in very thick chips or wedges)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">&frac12; cup green beans (snapped in small pieces)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">&frac12; cup of shelled double beans<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">&frac14; cup of peas or toovar beans<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">1 brinjal (cut in wedges or thick rounds)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">2 carrots (cut in rounds or sliced lengthwise)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">2 green chillies<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">2 sprigs thyme<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">2, 5 ml (&frac12; teaspoon) pepper<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">5ml (1 teaspoon) salt<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">&frac12; cup cup chopped tomato<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">25ml (2 tablespoon grated coconut)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">25ml cream<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">12, 5ml yoghurt<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">5ml (1 teaspoon) saumf\/fennel seed<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">25ml (2 tablespoon) oil<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">2ml (&frac12; teaspoon) each of methi \/ fenugreek and mustard seed<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">5ml (1 teaspoon) slivered garlic<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">Method:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">Peel, cut and prepare vegetables. Place in waterless cooking pot (or utensil of choice with little water as possible). Steam, cook, till vegetables are half done.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">Meanwhile blend in liquidizer the green chillie, saumf and coconut with a little water, mix into paste with asterisk marked ingredients. If liked a little turmeric may be added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">Place vegetables in oven proof casserole and pour yoghurt marinade all over them. Toss and turn so that vegetables are well coated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">Make vagaar with oil, garlic and methi and mustard seeds and carefully pour over casserole. Cook in moderate oven for 15 to 20 minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana\">Note: Drumstick (sekta) peppers, papdi(sem) or any other vegetables in season can be use.
