The Freedom Front Plus (FF) has cast aside a coalition with Democratic Alliance (DA) in favour of one with the African National Congress (ANC) in at least three municipalities in the Western Cape.<\/p>\n

The president of the United Independent Movement (UIM), Neil De Beer, said that a fallout between the FF\u2019s Western Cape leader Dr Corn\u00e9 Mulder and leaders of the DA has led to \u201ccrumbling\u201d coalitions between the parties in Oudtshoorn, Agulhas and Langeberg.<\/p>\n

\u201c[It] is a major fallout in the synopsis of our political world,\u201d De Beer said in an interview on Radio Islam International. \u201c[It] is the new era of politics. It is coalition. And with coalition comes backstabbing,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The FF\u2019s political move signals the end of the DA\u2019s dominance in the South African political sphere.<\/p>\n

De Beer warns that if steps are not taken to calm the dispute, it could result in instability in many more Western Cape councils.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they don\u2019t get a meeting between John Steenhuisen and Pieter Groenewald on a GNU level to calm this down, I fear it is not just going to be Langerberg or Oudtshoorn that\u2019s going to have a destable government,\u201d De Beer said.<\/p>\n

As an ex-military agent, De Beer also discussed the military training camp that was found outside Modimolle last week, saying that it makes firearm training rules ambiguous because the weapons that were found at the camp were licensed.<\/p>\n

While specialised firearm training is essential for officers to combat crimes such as poaching and cash-in-transit heists, military combat training for military assistance \u201cshould not happen,\u201d De Beer said.<\/p>\n
