Every living person, regardless of who they might be, has to eat, and so eating plays a large part in our lives and can have a massive effect on our lifestyle, health and overall appearance too!<\/p>\n<p>For us as Muslims however, Allah \ufdfb has given us through his Messenger \ufdfa, a flawless example of how one should eat, and the mannerisms involved in eating. There is great hikmah, benefit &amp; initiative behind these manners, many of them have even been scientifically proven to be healthier and minimize health risks. But setting the health gains aside, we as Muslims also win much religious reward when eating in this manner with the intention to do so as a Sunnah.<\/p>\n<p>One should always ensure that the hands are washed and are clean before partaking of anything.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Start with saying Bismillah<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It was narrated that \u2018Aishah RA said: \u201cThe Messenger of Allah (\ufdfa) was eating food with six of his Companions when a Bedouin came and ate it all in two bites. The Messenger of Allah (\ufdfa) said: \u2018If he had said Bismillah, it would have sufficed you (all). When any one of you eats food, let him say Bismillah, and if he forgets to say Bismillah at the beginning, let him say Bismillah fi awwalihi wa akhirih (In the Name of Allah at the beginning and at the end).\u2019\u201d [Ibn Majah]<\/p>\n<p>In Surah Al An\u2019am verse 121 Allah gives clear instructions to be grateful and to declare Allah\u2019s name before eating food.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u0648\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627 \u062a\u064e\u0623\u0652\u0643\u064f\u0644\u064f\u0648\u0627\u06df \u0645\u0650\u0645\u0651\u064e\u0627 \u0644\u064e\u0645\u0652 \u064a\u064f\u0630\u0652\u0643\u064e\u0631\u0650 \u0671\u0633\u0652\u0645\u064f \u0671\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0647\u0650 \u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0647\u0650 \u0648\u064e\u0625\u0650\u0646\u0651\u064e\u0647\u064f\u06e5 \u0644\u064e\u0641\u0650\u0633\u0652\u0642\u064c \u06d7 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd do not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has not been mentioned, for indeed, it is grave disobedience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eating Using your right hand and start with the food nearest on your plate<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Umar bin Abu Salamah RA reported: I was a boy under the care of Messenger of Allah (\ufdfa), and as my hand used to wander around in the dish, he (\ufdfa) said to me once, \u201cMention Allah\u2019s Name (i.e., say Bismillah), eat with your right hand, and eat from what is in front of you.\u201d [Bukhari &amp; Muslim].<\/p>\n<p><strong>Siting on the floor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And it was narrated that He \ufdfa said: \u201cI eat as a slave eats and I sit as a slave sits.\u201d [Abu Ya\u2019laa]<\/p>\n<p>I eat as the servant eats, and I sit as the servant sits. Verily, I am only a servant. [Shu\u2019ab al-Iman]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blessings of Eating Together<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Salim bin \u2018Abdullah bin \u2018Umar R said: \u201cI heard my father say: \u2018I heard \u2018Umar bin Khattab RA say: \u201cThe Messenger of Allah (\ufdfa) said:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0643\u064f\u0644\u064f\u0648\u0627 \u062c\u064e\u0645\u0650\u064a\u0639\u064b\u0627 \u0648\u064e\u0644\u0627\u064e \u062a\u064e\u0641\u064e\u0631\u0651\u064e\u0642\u064f\u0648\u0627 \u0641\u064e\u0625\u0650\u0646\u0651\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0628\u064e\u0631\u064e\u0643\u064e\u0629\u064e \u0645\u064e\u0639\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0652\u062c\u064e\u0645\u064e\u0627\u0639\u064e\u0629\u0650<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2018Eat together and do not eat separately, for the blessing is in being together.\u2019\u201d [Ibn Majah]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eating with Three Fingers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ka\u2019b bin Malik RA reported: I saw the Messenger of Allah \ufdfa eating with three fingers (i.e., the thumb, the index finger and the middle finger) and licking them after having finished the food. [Muslim]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Be grateful and do not to criticize food you are given<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Narrated Abu Huraira RA:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0645\u064e\u0627 \u0639\u064e\u0627\u0628\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0646\u0651\u064e\u0628\u0650\u064a\u0651\u064f \u0635\u0644\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0648\u0633\u0644\u0645 \u0637\u064e\u0639\u064e\u0627\u0645\u064b\u0627 \u0642\u064e\u0637\u0651\u064f\u060c \u0625\u0650\u0646\u0650 \u0627\u0634\u0652\u062a\u064e\u0647\u064e\u0627\u0647\u064f \u0623\u064e\u0643\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0647\u064f\u060c \u0648\u064e\u0625\u0650\u0646\u0652 \u0643\u064e\u0631\u0650\u0647\u064e\u0647\u064f \u062a\u064e\u0631\u064e\u0643\u064e\u0647\u064f<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Prophet \ufdfa never criticized any food (he was invited to) but he used to eat if he liked the food, and leave it if he disliked it. [Bukhari]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Giving good compliments when eating something you like<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jabir RA reported: The Prophet \ufdfa asked for sauce and was told that there was nothing except vinegar. He asked for it and began to eat from it saying, \u201cHow excellent is vinegar when eaten as sauce! [Muslim]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eat in moderation, don\u2019t be excessive<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It was narrated that \u2018Atiyyah bin \u2018Amir Al-Juhani said: \u201cI heard Salman, when he was forced to eat food, say: \u2018It is sufficient for me that I heard the Messenger of Allah \ufdfa say:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0625\u0650\u0646\u0651\u064e \u0623\u064e\u0643\u0652\u062b\u064e\u0631\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0646\u0651\u064e\u0627\u0633\u0650 \u0634\u0650\u0628\u064e\u0639\u064b\u0627 \u0641\u0650\u064a \u0627\u0644\u062f\u0651\u064f\u0646\u0652\u064a\u064e\u0627 \u0623\u064e\u0637\u0652\u0648\u064e\u0644\u064f\u0647\u064f\u0645\u0652 \u062c\u064f\u0648\u0639\u064b\u0627 \u064a\u064e\u0648\u0652\u0645\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0642\u0650\u064a\u064e\u0627\u0645\u064e\u0629\u0650<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The people who most eat their fill in this world will be the most hungry on the Day of Resurrection. [Ibn Majah]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Praise Allah and be thankful for the food you are given<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Anas b. Malik RA reported that Allah\u2019s Messenger \ufdfa said: Allah is pleased with His servant who says: Alhamdulillah (all praise be to Allah) while taking a morsel of food and while drinking.
