With December on the horizon, many people have already set their budgets and are finalising holiday plans. However, December is peak travel season globally, and if you’re planning to travel, it’s crucial to start your visa applications as soon as possible!<\/span><\/p>\n

Many embassies have reported backlogs and require up to two months to process visa applications. This year, popular destinations for South Africans, like T\u00fcrkiye, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand, are already experiencing high demand.<\/span><\/p>\n

While many people rely on third-party services, such as travel agents, for visa applications, it’s important to note that most consulates request at least three weeks to a month to process a visa. Whether you apply directly or through an agent, you’ll need to gather documents like your bank statements, employment letters, and any other required paperwork as soon as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

Travel agents recommend applying six weeks in advance if you’re heading to the UK. The same timeline applies to New Zealand.<\/span><\/p>\n

The UAE, which typically has a turnaround time of about seven days, is also expected to see delays due to the high volume of applications in December. Processing times may extend to two or three weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n

For those planning a Canadian getaway, be aware of the extreme backlog \u2013 with a current turnaround time of 224 days! Unfortunately, you may not get your visa in time to enjoy Canada’s winter wonderland this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although the application process for T\u00fcrkiye is usually fast and straightforward, travel agents suggest applying at least three weeks in advance to avoid disappointment.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Schengen visa remains one of the most challenging, with many applications being denied on the first attempt. Additionally, fees are non-refundable. As December approaches, securing an interview slot for a Schengen visa is becoming increasingly difficult, so it’s vital to act fast.<\/span><\/p>\n
