A decade after the mysterious disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, the case continues to captivate global attention, and a new search is set to begin. The Malaysian government has enlisted the services of private firm Ocean Infinity under a \u201cno-find, no-fee\u201d agreement, offering $70 million for locating the wreckage.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Radio Islam International<\/a>, Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Global Dialogue, Ashraf Patel highlights why MH370 remains one of aviation\u2019s greatest mysteries. \u201cIt\u2019s the only plane in modern history that vanished without a trace\u2014no black box, no wreckage, no bodies,\u201d he said. Flight MH370, bound for Beijing, disappeared from radar two hours after takeoff from Kuala Lumpur on March 8, 2014, with 239 people on board.<\/p>\n

Over the years, numerous theories have emerged. Patel references investigative journalist Florence Deschapny\u2019s book, The Disappearing Act<\/em>, which he describes as the \u201cgold standard\u201d on MH370. The theories explored include culpability involving technical failures, geopolitical motives, and potential hijacking. \u201cThere\u2019s speculation that the plane was carrying sensitive technology,\u201d Patel noted, \u201craising questions of deliberate interference by powerful nations.\u201d<\/p>\n

While families of the victims demand closure, Patel emphasizes broader implications for aviation. \u201cThis case has highlighted glaring gaps in global aviation safety and transparency,\u201d he said, adding that the renewed search might lead to stricter compliance measures for airlines and regulators.<\/p>\n

Technological advancements since 2014, such as improved satellite monitoring, may also aid the search. However, Patel underscores the urgency of answers, particularly for the 150 Chinese nationals who perished. \u201cIn an age of advanced surveillance, it\u2019s hard to fathom how a commercial airliner could vanish without a trace,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

The mystery of MH370 goes beyond aviation, touching on geopolitics, technological accountability, and even global health concerns. \u201cLessons from this tragedy extend to pandemic prevention and the regulation of international travel,\u201d Patel concluded.<\/p>\n

As the search resumes, the question remains: Will it finally uncover the truth behind MH370\u2019s disappearance, or will it deepen the enigma surrounding this tragic event? Families and nations await closure and, most importantly, the answer to why<\/em>.<\/p>\n
