Power shift in MK Party: Floyd Shivambu ousted amid rising tensions and questions over internal democracy.<\/p><\/div>\n

Floyd Shivambu\u2019s swift removal as Secretary General of the MK Party has sent shockwaves through political circles and raised serious concerns about internal democracy within the party. The official line attributes his axing to a controversial visit to fugitive Pastor Shepherd Bushiri. However, political analyst Dr. Ntsikelelo Breakfast suggests this explanation is merely a smokescreen for deeper rifts.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was just a strategic opportunity to oust him,\u201d said Dr. Breakfast, pointing to Shivambu\u2019s conflicts with Jacob Zuma\u2019s daughter and dissatisfaction with his leadership style among party ranks. The development follows weeks of internal lobbying and, as Dr. Breakfast put it, \u201cthe dust has now settled.\u201d<\/p>\n

Once a deputy president in the EFF, Shivambu was promised a strategic post when he joined the MK Party, and initially, that promise was fulfilled. Now, he finds himself relegated to an ordinary parliamentary member. \u201cIt\u2019s not a redeployment, it\u2019s a demotion,\u201d said Breakfast. \u201cThe party has lost confidence in him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shivambu\u2019s political future appears increasingly uncertain. His strained ties with the EFF, where he\u2019s seen as a defector, make a return unlikely. \u201cThere\u2019s no way Malema would allow that. He wouldn\u2019t trust him again,\u201d noted Breakfast.<\/p>\n

More troubling, however, is what Shivambu\u2019s ousting reveals about the MK Party itself. Despite impressive election gains, placing among South Africa\u2019s top three parties critics argue it lacks institutionalised democracy. \u201cDecisions are made in the dark, unilaterally,\u201d said Breakfast. \u201cLet\u2019s be honest, the party revolves around the personality of Zuma.\u201d<\/p>\n

With growing speculation about who will replace Shivambu, possibly Zuma\u2019s daughter. The analyst warned of creeping dynastic politics. \u201cWhy would you attack Floyd like that if you don\u2019t have ambitions?\u201d<\/p>\n

The party\u2019s failure to convene a proper conference has only deepened doubts. \u201cWhat is the issue?\u201d asked Breakfast. \u201cHold a conference. You say you believe in the will of the people-take the party to the people.\u201d<\/p>\n

As internal tensions mount, so too do the questions facing MK\u2019s voter base. In a landscape marked by instability and leadership battles, confidence in the party\u2019s long-term direction may soon be tested.<\/p>\n
