Introduction: A Love Rooted in Revelation<\/strong><\/p>\n

When the Messenger of Allah \ufdfa loved something, it was never out of personal bias \u2014 his love was guided by Wahy (revelation). So when we find him repeatedly praying for, praising, and speaking of the land of Shaam, we know that this love is sacred, spiritual, and timeless.<\/p>\n

Shaam \u2014 a region encompassing modern-day Syria, Palestine, Jordan, and Lebanon \u2014 was dear to Rasulullah \ufdfa. But why?<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s explore five powerful reasons why our beloved Prophet \ufdfa loved the land of Shaam.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Because Allah Blessed It First<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The Prophet \ufdfa affirmed the divine blessing on Shaam in multiple hadiths. But long before that, Allah Himself declared its status:<\/p>\n

    \ufd3f\u0648\u064e\u0646\u064e\u062c\u0651\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0646\u064e\u0627\u0647\u064f \u0648\u064e\u0644\u064f\u0648\u0637\u064b\u0627 \u0625\u0650\u0644\u064e\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0623\u064e\u0631\u0652\u0636\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0651\u064e\u062a\u0650\u064a \u0628\u064e\u0627\u0631\u064e\u0643\u0652\u0646\u064e\u0627 \u0641\u0650\u064a\u0647\u064e\u0627 \u0644\u0650\u0644\u0652\u0639\u064e\u0627\u0644\u064e\u0645\u0650\u064a\u0646\u064e\ufd3e<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \u201cAnd We delivered him [Ibrahim] and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds.\u201d (Al-Anbiya 21: 71)<\/p>\n

    That land \u2014 according to scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi R \u2014 is Shaam.<\/p>\n

    This blessing includes:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Barakah in provision and rain<\/li>\n
    • Barakah in soil and agriculture<\/li>\n
    • Barakah in spirituality, through the presence of prophets and saints<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Rasulullah \ufdfa\u2019s love was not random \u2014 it was love for a land already honoured by Allah.<\/p>\n

      1. Because It Was the Home of the Prophets AS<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        From Ibrahim (AS) to Lut (AS), from Zakariyya and Yahya (AS) to Isa (AS) \u2014 Shaam is described in hadith and seerah as the land where many prophets lived, preached, or were buried.<\/p>\n

        The Prophet \ufdfa said:<\/p>\n

        \u0631\u064e\u0623\u064e\u064a\u0652\u062a\u064f \u0639\u0650\u064a\u0633\u064e\u0649 \u0648\u064e\u0645\u064f\u0648\u0633\u064e\u0649 \u0648\u064e\u0625\u0650\u0628\u0652\u0631\u064e\u0627\u0647\u0650\u064a\u0645\u064e \u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0647\u0650\u0645\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0651\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627\u0645\u064f<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \u201cI saw \u2018Isa, Musa, and Ibrahim (AS)\u2026\u201d (Muslim)<\/p>\n

        He spoke often of their missions \u2014 and many of them took place in or around Shaam. The Prophet \ufdfa loved it because it carried the legacy of his brothers \u2014 the earlier messengers AS.<\/p>\n

        1. Because He Made Du\u2018a for It \u2014 Again and Again<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Among the most repeated du\u2018as of the Prophet \ufdfa is:<\/p>\n

          \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0647\u064f\u0645\u0651\u064e \u0628\u064e\u0627\u0631\u0650\u0643\u0652 \u0644\u064e\u0646\u064e\u0627 \u0641\u0650\u064a \u0634\u064e\u0627\u0645\u0650\u0646\u064e\u0627\u060c \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0647\u064f\u0645\u0651\u064e \u0628\u064e\u0627\u0631\u0650\u0643\u0652 \u0644\u064e\u0646\u064e\u0627 \u0641\u0650\u064a \u064a\u064e\u0645\u064e\u0646\u0650\u0646\u064e\u0627<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \u201cO Allah, bless us in our Shaam. O Allah, bless us in our Yemen.\u201d (Bukhari)<\/p>\n

          And when asked to make du\u2018a for Najd, he repeated his words \u2014 emphasizing Shaam as the land of divine favour. This persistent prayer shows deep concern, attachment, and spiritual admiration.<\/p>\n

          1. Because It Will Be the Fort of Believers in Difficult Times<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            The Prophet \ufdfa described Shaam as the place where truth will endure, even when the world is overwhelmed by misguidance and chaos.<\/p>\n

            \u0639\u064f\u0642\u0652\u0631\u064f \u062f\u064e\u0627\u0631\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0645\u064f\u0624\u0652\u0645\u0650\u0646\u0650\u064a\u0646\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0634\u0651\u064e\u0627\u0645\u064f<\/strong><\/p>\n

            \u201cThe stronghold of the believers will be in Shaam.\u201d (Abu Dawud)<\/p>\n

            He \ufdfa also said:<\/p>\n

            \u201cA group from my Ummah will remain upon the truth\u2026 Then \u2018Isa ibn Maryam will descend, and their leader will say to him: \u2018Lead us in prayer,\u2019 and he will reply: \u2018No, some of you are leaders over others \u2014 as an honour from Allah to this Ummah.\u2019\u201d (Muslim)<\/p>\n

            This hadith places the final divine events of human history in Shaam. No wonder Rasulullah \ufdfa loved it \u2014 it is the stage of victory and honour.<\/p>\n

            1. Because Its Trials Will Elevate It<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              Shaam has seen much suffering \u2014 war, occupation, loss. But the Prophet \ufdfa taught us that the struggles of the people of Shaam are signs of their high rank:<\/p>\n

              \u201cGlad tidings to Shaam.\u201d<\/p>\n

              They asked: \u201cWhy is that, O Messenger of Allah?\u201d<\/p>\n

              He replied: \u201cThat is because the angels of Allah have spread their wings over Shaam.\u201d (Tirmidhi \u2013 Hasan)<\/p>\n

              Imagine a land under the protection and honour of angels \u2014 how could the Prophet \ufdfa not love it?<\/p>\n

              What This Means for Us<\/p>\n

              Rasulullah \ufdfa\u2019s love for Shaam wasn’t just emotional \u2014 it was prophetic. Through it, he showed us what lands to hold dear, what places to support, and where our hearts should turn.<\/p>\n

              In our time \u2014 where Shaam is wounded and bleeding \u2014 we honour the Prophet\u2019s \ufdfa love by:<\/p>\n

              • Making du\u2018a for its people<\/li>\n
              • Learning its history and virtues<\/li>\n
              • Supporting efforts for justice and relief<\/li>\n
              • And keeping its barakah alive in our hearts and homes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
