{"id":98813,"date":"2025-07-02T08:41:55","date_gmt":"2025-07-02T06:41:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/?p=98813"},"modified":"2025-07-02T08:41:55","modified_gmt":"2025-07-02T06:41:55","slug":"the-chosen-land-for-angels-and-awliya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radioislam.org.za\/a\/the-chosen-land-for-angels-and-awliya\/","title":{"rendered":"The Chosen Land for Angels and Awliya"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Introduction: What Makes a Land Sacred?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lands become sacred not by politics or power, but by divine favour \u2014 by the presence of prophets, angels, martyrs, and the awliya\u2019 (friends of Allah).<\/p>\n<p>Among all regions of the earth, Shaam \u2014 the area encompassing modern-day Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, and Jordan \u2014 was repeatedly honoured by Allah and His Messenger \ufdfa.<\/p>\n<p>The Prophet \ufdfa spoke of Shaam not only as blessed, but as a refuge of angels and a sanctuary of sainthood. Let\u2019s explore this concept of Shaam being the Chosen Land for Angels and Awliya.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Angels of Allah Spread Their Wings Over It<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Prophet \ufdfa said:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0637\u064f\u0648\u0628\u064e\u0649 \u0644\u0650\u0644\u0634\u0651\u064e\u0627\u0645\u0650<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cGlad tidings to Shaam!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Companions asked, \u201cWhy, O Messenger of Allah?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He replied:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0641\u064e\u0625\u0650\u0646\u0651\u064e \u0645\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627\u0626\u0650\u0643\u064e\u0629\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0631\u0651\u064e\u062d\u0652\u0645\u064e\u0670\u0646\u0650 \u0628\u064e\u0627\u0633\u0650\u0637\u064e\u0629\u064c \u0623\u064e\u062c\u0652\u0646\u0650\u062d\u064e\u062a\u064e\u0647\u064e\u0627 \u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0647\u064e\u0627<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the Angels of the Most Merciful have spread their wings over it.\u201d (Tirmidhi)<\/p>\n<p>This image is majestic: angels hovering, protecting, honouring this land. No other region has been described in this exact way.<\/p>\n<p>It shows that Shaam is not just blessed \u2014 it is guarded by divine presence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Place of Spiritual Leadership and Awliya\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Prophet \ufdfa foretold that during the end times:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0644\u064e\u0627 \u062a\u064e\u0632\u064e\u0627\u0644\u064f \u0637\u064e\u0627\u0626\u0650\u0641\u064e\u0629\u064c \u0645\u0650\u0646\u0652 \u0623\u064f\u0645\u0651\u064e\u062a\u0650\u064a \u0638\u064e\u0627\u0647\u0650\u0631\u0650\u064a\u0646\u064e \u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0652\u062d\u064e\u0642\u0651\u0650 \u2026 \u0648\u064e\u0647\u064f\u0645\u0652 \u0628\u0650\u0627\u0644\u0634\u0651\u064e\u0623\u0652\u0645\u0650<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cA group from my Ummah will remain firm upon the truth\u2026 and they will be in Shaam.\u201d (Ahmad, Tirmidhi)<\/p>\n<p>These are the awliya\u2019, the righteous defenders of truth, the spiritual inheritors of the Prophets AS.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout history, Shaam was home to some of the greatest spiritual figures:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sayyiduna Bilal \u0631\u0636\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0639\u0646\u0647 lived and passed away in Shaam.<\/li>\n<li>Sayyiduna Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah \u0631\u0636\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0639\u0646\u0647 the \u201cAmeen of this Ummah,\u201d rests there.<\/li>\n<li>Scholars and saints like Imam al-Nawawi, Ibn Asakir R and countless others lit the skies of Shaam with their knowledge and humility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Their presence alone made the land pure, vibrant, and connected to the divine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Land of Prophets AS Is the Land of Awliya\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Qur\u2019an testifies:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\ufd3f\u0633\u064f\u0628\u0652\u062d\u064e\u0627\u0646\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0630\u0650\u064a \u0623\u064e\u0633\u0652\u0631\u064e\u0649\u0670 \u0628\u0650\u0639\u064e\u0628\u0652\u062f\u0650\u0647\u0650 \u0644\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0644\u064b\u0627\u2026 \u0625\u0650\u0644\u064e\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0645\u064e\u0633\u0652\u062c\u0650\u062f\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0623\u064e\u0642\u0652\u0635\u064e\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0630\u0650\u064a \u0628\u064e\u0627\u0631\u064e\u0643\u0652\u0646\u064e\u0627 \u062d\u064e\u0648\u0652\u0644\u064e\u0647\u064f\ufd3e<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cGlory be to Him who took His servant by night\u2026 to Al-Masjid al-Aqsa \u2014 the surroundings of which We have blessed.\u201d (Al-Isra 17: 1)<\/p>\n<p>This blessing isn\u2019t only physical. Scholars like Imam al-Qurtubi R explain that the barakah includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The presence of prophets AS<\/li>\n<li>The revelation of divine messages<\/li>\n<li>The acceptance of du\u2018a<\/li>\n<li>The sainthood of the pious<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Because the Anbiya (AS) lived and walked there, it\u2019s no surprise that their inheritors \u2014 the awliya\u2019 \u2014 continue to rise from that soil.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Its Trials Will Elevate Its Saints<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shaam has faced centuries of hardship \u2014 from ancient wars to modern crises. But even in these moments, the Prophet \ufdfa gave us hope:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0625\u0650\u0630\u064e\u0627 \u0641\u064e\u0633\u064e\u062f\u064e \u0623\u064e\u0647\u0652\u0644\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0634\u0651\u064e\u0627\u0645\u0650 \u0641\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627 \u062e\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0631\u064e \u0641\u0650\u064a\u0643\u064f\u0645\u0652<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the people of Shaam become corrupt, then there is no good in you.\u201d (Tirmidhi)<\/p>\n<p>This teaches us two things:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The moral and spiritual compass of the Ummah is tied to Shaam.<\/li>\n<li>Its people, when steadfast, are among the highest in status.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Every test brings with it elevation. Every shaheed, every sabir, every righteous man and woman who endures \u2014 is raised in the sight of Allah.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where Angels and Awliya\u2019 Will Stand Until the End<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to authentic hadith, when \u2018Isa (AS) descends, it will be in Shaam:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u064a\u064e\u0646\u0652\u0632\u0650\u0644\u064f \u0639\u0650\u064a\u0633\u064e\u0649 \u0639\u0650\u0646\u0652\u062f\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0645\u064e\u0646\u064e\u0627\u0631\u064e\u0629\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0628\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0636\u064e\u0627\u0621\u0650 \u0634\u064e\u0631\u0652\u0642\u0650\u064a\u0651\u064e \u062f\u0650\u0645\u064e\u0634\u0652\u0642\u064e<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIsa (AS) will descend at the white minaret, east of Damascus.\u201d (Muslim)<\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t a random detail. It is a divine placement.<\/p>\n<p>The final battle between truth and falsehood \u2014 the return of one of the greatest prophets, surrounded by righteous believers, assisted by angels \u2014 will unfold in the blessed land of Shaam.<\/p>\n<p>Shaam is not just a name in history. It is a living, beating heart in the Ummah \u2014 rich with divine grace, angelic presence, and saintly sacrifice.<\/p>\n<p>Let us:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pray for its people with the du\u2018a of Rasulullah \ufdfa:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0647\u064f\u0645\u0651\u064e \u0628\u064e\u0627\u0631\u0650\u0643\u0652 \u0644\u064e\u0646\u064e\u0627 \u0641\u0650\u064a \u0634\u064e\u0627\u0645\u0650\u0646\u064e\u0627<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cO Allah, bless us in our Shaam.\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Connect our youth to its stories and its heroes<\/li>\n<li>Support its scholars, institutions, and families<\/li>\n<li>And internalise its spirit of steadfastness and sainthood<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For truly, the land beloved to the angels and awliya\u2019 must be beloved to us.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Introduction: What Makes a Land Sacred?
