STEAK PIE
2 ½ cups flour
125gr butter
2 ½ tsp baking powder
Salt
Pepper
Mix together to resemble breadcrumbs…Make soft dough with enough milk.
Take 3/4 dough and roll, fit into a Pyrex dish, spread chutney, cooked steak, cheese and mash, close with rest of dough, prick all over with a fork..brush egg and sprinkle tal. Bake on 180 till done.
SOUR CREAM DOUGH
3 cups flour
½ tsp salt
¼ 1b butter
1 tub sour cream and a little milk. Rub butter into flour and make a dough with rest of ingredients, divide into 3 rotis and grate another ¼1b butter on all 3 rotis roll out like pie dough and leave for about 6 hours to rest. Fill and bake.
Use filling of your choice.
MAYONNAISE PIE:
125g butter
2 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
½ tsp mustard powder
½ tsp green chillies (ground)
pinch of tumeric
2 eggs
1 cup milk
METHOD:
Rub the butter into dry ingredients . Beat the eggs into the milk and make a very soft dough.
FILLING:
½ kg chicken, steak or mince
1 tbs oil
1 tsp salt
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp lemon pepper
2 tbs butter
1 cup macaroni (cooked)
1 cup mixed veg. (boiled)
2 tomatoes (grated)
1 tbs tomato puree
Mayonniase
1 green pepper (cubed)
Beaten egg sesame seeds
METHOD:
Cook meat in oil and spices till done. Add the macaroni, tomatoes, tomato puree and mixed veg together in a pot. Spread half the dough into an over-proof dish. Spread the filling and then spread with mayonnaise, green pepper, lots of grated cheese – sprinkle with salt/pepper and cover with the other dough and brush with beaten egg and sesame seeds. Bake in a pre-heated oven on 180 o C for 35 min till done
