We’re inviting written submissions for our “Aalimah of the Year” recognition. An opportunity to honour and celebrate the quiet heroes who guide, uplift, and inspire others through their Islamic knowledge, character, and service.
How to Nominate:
Submit a written motivation (approx. 500–600 words) sharing how the Aalimah you’re nominating has:
- Positively impacted her community
- Shown dedication in teaching, da’wah, or community work
- Uplifted others spiritually or socially
- Displayed outstanding character and leadership

Terms & Conditions – Aalimah of the Year Award
- Written submissions only will be accepted (500–600 words).
- The nominee must be a qualified Aalimah from a reputable institution
- The nomination should include clear examples of the Aalimah’s community impact, spiritual guidance, and dedication to Islamic teaching or humanitarian work.
- Nominees must be female Islamic scholars (Aalimahs) currently serving or active within their local communities (for a minimum of 5 years).
- Nominees must be based in South Africa (unless otherwise specified).
- Aalimahs involved in public, community, madrassah, counselling, outreach or teaching work may be nominated.
- At least two referrals should be included in the submission
- Judges will assess entries based on:
- Impact
- Dedication
- Community feedback (as reflected in the submission)
- Consistency of service
- Final decision lies with the panel of judges appointed by Radio Islam.
- The most compelling and impactful submission will determine the winner; this is not a popularity-based competition.
- The winner will be announced on air and online, Insha Allah.
- Radio Islam reserves the right to verify information or request clarity if needed.
- By submitting a nomination, you consent to Radio Islam sharing selected details of the entry (with discretion and permission) for on-air or online purposes.

- Tribute Content Requirements
Each submission should reflect sincere admiration and meaningful impact, and must include:
- Biographical Overview• Full name, community location, years of service, and institutional affiliations
- Impact Statement• Personal reflections or experiences shaped by the nominee’s contributions
- Evidence of her role in Islamic education, dawah, counselling, or community upliftment
- Any programs, initiatives, or publications she led or contributed to
- Spiritual Resonance• How her life and teachings mirror Qur’anic principles and Prophetic ethics
- Her efforts in preserving Islamic traditions and mentoring future generations
- Closing Message• A heartfelt dua or concise note of honour from the submitter
- Optional: Accompanying audio or video message
- Format & Language Guidelines
- Written Tributes: 500–600 words
- Accepted Languages: English, Urdu, Arabic, Zulu (submissions in other languages should include English translation)
- Visuals: Photos or media clips permitted with documented consent from the Aalimah or her family (optional)

Submissions will be assessed based on:
- Category
- Description
- Authenticity
- Emotional sincerity and originality of the narrative
- Clarity & Structure
- Logical, well-organized content that is easy to follow
- Cultural Sensitivity
- Respectful alignment with Islamic ethics and community values
- Inspirational Value
- Ability to elevate the legacy of Aalimahs and inspire broader audiences
