Allah’s Reward for the Patient – Part 3

Renewal of the Heart and Soul

Phase 4 – Strengthening The Heart: Building a Heart That Lasts

Allah’s Reward for the Patient

In this morning’s discussions our colleagues have redefined patience as strength, not weakness. We have seen how the patience we practiced in fasting translates to every dimension of life — in obedience, in avoiding sin, and in facing trials.

But now we must ask the question that fuels the soul: What awaits the patient? What has Allah prepared for those who persevere? What is the reward that makes every moment of difficulty worth enduring?

The Promise of the Quran

Allah mentions the reward of the patient repeatedly in the Quran. Each mention reveals a different dimension of His generosity. But one verse stands alone in its breath-taking scope:

“إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ”

“Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account.” (Surah Az-Zumar, 39: 10)

Read that again: Without account. Without measure. Without limit. Without calculation.

For every other good deed, the reward is multiplied — ten times, seven hundred times, even more. But for patience, there is no number. It is simply poured out without counting. Why? Because patience is the deed that has no limit. There is no ceiling on how much a person can endure. And so there is no ceiling on how much they can be rewarded.

Imagine standing on the Day of Judgment, watching as others receive their rewards — hassanat counted, multiplied, given. Then you see the patient. Their reward is not counted. It is heaped. It is poured. It is given without end. This is the generosity of the Most Generous.

What the Patient Receives

Let us look at the specific rewards Allah mentions for the patient:

  1. Allah’s Companionship

“إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ”

  1. Perfect Fulfillment of Reward

“وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّ الَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا أَجْرَهُم بِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ”

  1. Victory and Success

“يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اصْبِرُوا وَصَابِرُوا وَرَابِطُوا وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحونَ”

  1. Paradise

“وَجَزَاهُم بِمَا صَبَرُوا جَنَّةً وَحَرِيرًا”

The Reward in This Life

The rewards of patience are not only in the Hereafter. Allah grants the patient in this life as well:

  • Peace in the heart. The patient person is not tossed by every wind. They have anchored themselves in trust in Allah.
  • Respect from others. People naturally respect those who endure with dignity.
  • Solutions to problems. Allah often opens doors for the patient that remain closed to the impatient.
  • A good name. The patient is remembered with honour long after they are gone.

My brothers and sisters, do not underestimate the value of your patience. Do not think your struggles are unnoticed. Do not believe your endurance is wasted.

Allah sees. Allah records. Allah rewards. And His reward for the patient is beyond imagination.

May Allah write us among the patient and grant us the reward without account. Ameen.
