Communities in the South have been given no later than end of August 2023 to nominate their public service heroes who go beyond the call of duty in this year’s Name and Fame the Best of SA’s Public Service.

The amazing global campaign by Integrity Icon South Africa initiated by Accountability Lab SA focuses on individuals who make a positive impact on their communities, with integrity, said Deekay Ndoni Sibanda, Programmers Officer, for the CivAct project. “These individuals go above and beyond the calls of duty in an accountable, transparent and ethical manner and inspire us to thrive for a better society.  Mostly in South Africa when we talk about government officials and public servant, the only thing that comes to mind is corruption.”

Sibanda commended those “good government officials out there who are doing amazing work for their communities beyond their job descriptions.”

She said that the national campaign wants to Name and Fame those individuals who do support groups for girls, soup kitchens, after school care and other human beings who don’t do work for recognition and deserve to be celebrated. “We want to motivate and recognize these leaders and change the mindset that all government officials are not corrupt.”

“We want positive news and good visibility from people. We are tired of hearing bad news, as it is a reality.  But we need to recognize people doing great work,” she said, adding that society needs motivation and good news stories. “The youth should be uplifted and empower one another, and get the momentum going by using this platform.”

If you know someone who deserves to be acknowledged and recognized for their outstanding work, you can nominate them by WhatsApp “Integrity IconSA to 0600806146 or alternatively use the link:

Community members who work beyond their capabilities must have Name and Fame, because, “We want to see a just society…

Judges have been elected for the selection process. After the vetting and selection process from the list of entrants has been narrowed, one person will receive the ‘People’s Choice Award.”

Information is on all social media. Sibanda said this initiative is very exciting for the public.  We have extended our dates to try to include the many entrants we still receiving. “In conclusion if people are nominated according to correct criterion, if u know someone who deserves this award and the spot-light they deserve for doing all their brilliant work, nominate their icons and name and fame them. We not naming and shaming them.”

The idea is to motivate young people in the shadow and gloom of corruption.

“Nominate and tell us what makes those community people shine and outstanding. We must change the mindset that all government officials are not corrupt. This must impact on young people and they can then get an opportunity to engage with icons and thus ensure that the accountability issues and process unfolds,” said Sibanda.
