I would like to Nominate our Muazin Dawood at the 23rd Street Fietas Musjid for the Umrah Trip.He is really special to the community. Dawood came to our Musjid 24 years ago from Malawi very humble could not speak English properly and was very shy.

Our Mutawalli had a nick name for him called (Dawoodi)and the community had a great liking for him as he is always helpful to the Imam and the Musallees that frequent the musjid. If the Imam was late or not around he even made Imaamat to accommodate the Jamaat, he would attend and help with Janaaazas and old and young people that needed help in the community. When he arrives early you will find him reading Quraan and even helps foreign jamaats staying upstairs. When we had a 3-day jamaat or Da rul Uloom students spend time he never complained there is extra work or cleaning to do.

One Fajir it was really dark and cold he use to come early and out and prepare for the Fajir Azaan when he was approached with criminal that was inside the Musjid and wanted the Lillah box and other valuables our brave muazin tried to stop the Thief but was Stabbed in the chest lucky my dad was entering at the time and seen the attack, he went to help the Muazin and the criminal ran away. The Muazin was rushed to Garden City where he was treated for a stab wound to the chest.

Up till today he thanks my dad and with the mercy of Allah his life was saved. He is married and has 4 kids Shukar to Allah SWT. A brave Muazin Dawood bhai that would give his life for the 23rd Street Fietas Musjid. I would love for our Muazin to visit the House of Allah the Baitul as he is still looking after one of Allah SWT houses the 23rd Street Musjid.
