The Unwavering Muazzin Shaikh Yusuf Saidi, whom I have known since 2003, though he is in the service of our masjid (Masjidus Salaam Manzilpark)since 1993.
Our Muazzin, is more than just a voice; he’s a pillar of our community. His selflessness, resilience, and compassion inspire me daily. From his melodious Adhan to his gentle nature, not forgetting his green fingers, he embodies the teachings of our faith. I’m writing this to show his unwavering dedication and the impact he’s had on our community. Muazzin Sahib is a gentle soul.
Soft-spoken and kind-hearted, our Muazzin creates a safe space for our community to grow. His warm smile and compassionate gaze put everyone at ease. As my neighbor, he’s always willing to lend a helping hand, and keep an eye when I’m not home. His children are like family to me, often sharing meals and laughter in my home. I’m also their go to home work helper. My daughter also has fond memories of her and Muazzins daughter bunking madressa classes to play with Muazzins baby.
Muazzin is a devoted Muazzin
Five times a day, his enchanting voice calls our community to prayer. His dedication inspires me to prioritize my faith, and strive for excellence. He teaches Quranic recitation with patience.
I vividly remember the day our Muazzin was detained due to documentation issues. Our community was worried, especially that it was the first Taraweeh prayer. My husband ensured that Muazzin received Iftar in detention, sometimes breaking his own fast in the car to prioritize Muazzin’s needs.
Even from prison, Muazzin’s concern was who would call the prayer, and who would see that everything was in place especially because it was Ramadan. His sons and brother fulfilled his duty, but it was a hectic week. Upon his release, he resumed his role, his voice echoing through the mosque and community, a symbol of resilience and devotion.
I want to share this Lighthearted Moment with you.
Today, just a few hours before i got to know of this competition I chuckled as Muazzin mistakenly started the Adhan at 12 noon. His wife and I laughed, knowing he’s usually meticulous. “His head’s no longer right!” we joked. She playfully replied “He must have forgotten you nap from 12 till zuhr adhaan.” We shared a hearty laugh as we knew this was my siesta time and the adhaan is my alarm. This minor mishap reminded me of his humanity and dedication.
Our Muazzin’s selflessness, compassion, and resilience make him a shining example of true faith . Through trials and tribulations, he remains steadfast.
A lasting impact, our Muazzin’s influence extends beyond our community. As a role model, he shows us that faith and compassion can overcome even the greatest challenges.
This giveaway prize would honor his vital role. I think he is really deserving of it. As our Muazzin, is a perfect example of someone with good values, he embodies: kindness, compassion, and service to humanity. May his story inspire others to follow in his footsteps. Inshaallah.
