During my migration to Robertsham, amidst a bitterly cold winter. I woke up early the morning in preparation for Fajr Salaah at Al Huda Musjid (Robertsham). Just getting out of the house and into the car felt like climbing Mount Kilamanjaro with the extreme nail biting cold, brrrrrr. Driving down the road to the musjid enduring smoke bellowing from houses which fires were lit, thinking to myself Ya Allah accept my effort for making Fajr at the musjid during this cold while others sleep but low and behold.
Arriving at the musjid in Robertsham welcomed by a warm musjid built for comfort with the Gas heaters heating the entire musjid surrounds so that one could pray Fajr comfortably. Who has made this sacrifice of ensuring all mussallees that attend Allah’s house is reading salaah in comfort. Myself driving to the musjid only thinking of myself and yet there is an individual who sacrifices his sleep to ensure that Allah’s guests are comfortable when they arrive at the Creators house. How fortunate is this individual?
Every Jumua he would anticipatingly wait with the donation bucket at the entrance and greet every musallee with a beautiful rich smile and converse with many musallees who only attend Jumua due to working in the area.
After many months going into the summer break with the scorching heat I would arrive at Al Huda Musjid – Robertsham to find the coolness of the musjid because the special Muadhin has sacrificed his time and went early to the musjid to ensure the aircon had cooled the salaah area so musalless could yet again pray salaah in comfort.
On many occasions if I would go to the musjid outside of Salaah times I would find Muadhin Hassan in the musjid busy with the hoover, washing the windows, neatening the musjid. Although this was part of his responsibilities, I have been to many a masaajid where no adherence to meticulous cleanliness was applied.
Many years of getting to interact with our Muadhin Hassan, was just life changing in knowing that this was a man of a true Jannah recipient. He always smiled and never frowned. Embracing every musallee with utter humbleness and would sit for long periods after every Fard salaah bowing down his head in Dua. Of recent he was involved in a motorbike accident with injuries to his leg and to date uses a crutch to walk but yet this is no deterrent for him from doing his duties responsibly. He is also mainly responsible for handling the catering aspect for Al Huda Musjid – Robertsham which assists in mayyits and general catering in the area. Through his bodily pains on a daily bases and facing the frustration of appointments being postponed at the local hospital, there would never be a single complaint from him but only praises for Allah(SWT) and a simple smile.
He has been in the employment for over 15 years at the Robertsham Muslim Jamaat. I can testify that I have yet to meet a man that is so humble, forgiving and loving. He is fit to be by my father but would humble himself even to a 10-year-old. The kids in the musjid adore him as he jokes with them and has earned the utmost respect from any musallee that has prayed on the musallahs at Al Huda Musjid – Robertsham.
This darling of a Mudhin graciously calls the Adhaan beautifully, 5(five) times a day for us to come to the musjid while we are engrossed in our daily needs, yet his sacrifice is always met with a smile and greeting. In the many years being part of Robertsham this individual has always made it a pleasure for me to grace this musjid as it is always absolutely clean and ready for musallees to congregate in comfort.
This opportunity would graciously be a gift for a remarkable man that stood the test of times and embraced it with all his smiles, humbleness and pain only here in Robertsham just to serve Allah’s guests at the masjid.
With out a doubt this is truly a remarkable man who richly deserves nothing better than to grace the Mubarak Lands of Makkah Mu Karramah and Madinatul Munawwarah.
