Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi will deliver his first State of the Province Address on Monday evening at the Johannesburg City Hall.
All indications are that it will be another disruptive event, as EFF Gauteng Leader Nkululeko Dunga promised.
The EFF says Lesufi is an extension of President Cyril Ramaphosa, as the Gauteng ANC nominated him for this position.
When Premier Lesufi took office last year, he made a list of promises to get Gauteng to work again.
The DA Gauteng leader, Solly Msimanga, told Radio Islam International that they expected Premier Lesufi to outline precisely how many promises he made have been fulfilled and what tangible difference this has made to the lives of the residents.
The party hopes, among other things, from the SOPA to learn what Lesufi is doing to address the load shedding that affects Gauteng Province and has repercussions for the water supply.
“Our residents deserve to know what measures are being made to obtain additional electricity from Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and whether there have been discussions with the national government to form an intergovernmental task team to look into this and the water problem.”
In addition, Msimanga stated that they wanted Lesufi to reveal the date on which e-tolls would be eliminated.
