Egypt’s Oxygen Crisis – Entire C19 ICU Dies

By Naadiya Adams – @Miss Naadiya

An entire Intensive Care Unit of Covid-19 Patients has died in Egypt’s El Husseineya Central Hospital in Ash Sharqia province after the medical centre ran out of oxygen.

Footage of the ward went viral when a relative of one of the patients who also died from low oxygen captured the incident. Oxygen levels dropped to almost less than two per cent meaning there was not enough oxygen or pressure to save patients’ lives.

Egypt’s Health Minister Hala Zayed initially denied the accusations saying the Muslim Brotherhood was spreading rumours.

For three weeks doctors have attempted to speak out about the lack of medicine and oxygen, as the second wave of coronavirus takes over Egypt.

The manager of Hamool Hospital in Kafr Al-Sheikh appealed on Facebook for oxygen cylinders, but doctors who are critical of the government have been punished by the state.
