Heidelberg – History came roaring back to life on Saturday, September 30, 2023, as the Heidelberg Great Train Race (HGTR) transported attendees to the glamorous and adventurous era of the 1930s. The event, which took place at Heidelberg Airfield, paid homage to the legendary 1930s Bentley vs. Le Train Bleu Race, inviting visitors to experience the charm and sophistication of a bygone age.

The HGTR, a full-day affair from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, offered a captivating glimpse into the past, featuring a procession of vintage cars and motorcycles, the awe-inspiring presence of steam locomotives, and daredevil aviators soaring overhead at Heidelberg Airfield. Families and history enthusiasts alike were treated to a day filled with entertainment, excitement, and nostalgia.

One of the highlights of the event was the Vintage Bentley and steam locomotive salute at 09:00. Attendees gathered to witness these beautifully restored classics in action, reliving the elegance and power that defined an era known for its style and sophistication.

Throughout the day, exhibitions showcased an impressive array of vintage cars, motorcycles, and aircraft, providing a unique opportunity for visitors to admire the craftsmanship and design of these iconic vehicles. The intricate details and historical significance of each exhibit were a testament to the passion of collectors and enthusiasts.

For those seeking an adrenaline rush, the HGTR offered demonstration helicopter rides, allowing attendees to soar above the event and gain a bird’s-eye view of the vintage treasures on display. Families with children were not left out, as miniature steam train rides delighted the youngest attendees.
