Honor, a budget brand of Huawei has launched the new 8X smartphone with features that rival some of the top end devices available currently on the market at a fraction of the huge price tags.

Unveiled in Johannesburg on Tuesday, the Honor 8X which is part of the brands Hero series is powered by a Kirin 710 chipset.

The device features a 6.5 inch with a display notch LCD screen that gives it a screen-to-body ratio of just over 90 percent, but sadly is not water resistant.

The X8 has dual 20MP + 2MP AI cameras with F/1.8 large aperture. It also has a 16MP selfie camera with multi-scene selection and a fingerprint sensor.

The Honor 8X runs the EMUI 8.2 flavoured Android 8.1 Oreo OS and packs a 3,750mAh battery. It also includes a reasonable 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, however South Africa will only be getting the 4GB variation.

The Honor 8X is great way to get a smartphone that looks and feels expensive, packs a lot features and is great value for money.

Available in Black, blue and Red, the Honor 8X is currently available in South Africa retaling at R 5,500.
