LaCie’s New Rugged Drive Backs Up Footage Without Computer

Seagate has revealed a new LaCie rugged portable storage drive at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES2018) which allows you to ingest and review your pictures and videos from a mobile device in full resolution without a laptop.

Dubbed Backup On-Set Solution (Boss), the Copilot looks to be built more for durability with its all-grey protective covering around a display (which isn’t a touchscreen).

The LaCie DJI Copilot has 2 terabytes of storage and features a short mobile cable as well as ports for power, Type-A USB, Type-C USB and an SD slot.

You can navigate the Copilot’s contents using a free iOS or Android app. When not used for backup, it can be used to charge mobile devices.

The unit’s internal battery can ingest about 30 hours of 4K footage on a single charge.

It will be available this spring for $349 (about R 4,350).
