A Tech journalist has told Radio Islam, there is an increasing affinity for streaming services in South Africa.

Many South Africans have subscribed to streaming channels like You Tube, Netflix and Showmax amongst others to enthuse their curiosity for the latest online movies, series and video content.

Conventional TV services are waning as internet service providers reach out to more areas with reasonable data costs allowing people to subscribe to online channels.

Kyle Venktess says there are a lot more South Africans that have access to the internet.

“We’ve managed to reach a stage now where data costs may not exactly where we want them. You would see that now a lot more service providers are now giving us more affordable rates on some of the packages that are available which is hence driving this richer content that we’re now able to consume.”

Venktess also spoke about a new mobile app called Tik Tok which allows users to create their own content in the form of videos and also viewing other subscribers work.
