COURTESY ASMA DINATH (split peas fritters):
Ingredients:
-2 cups of soaked yellow split peas (dhall tipois)(soaked 4 to 5 hours )
-handfull of chopped spring onions
-1 small chopped onions
-5 to 7 curry leaves
-few tymes leaves
-3tbsp of semolina (greo) (secret ingredient)
-chopped green chillies (optional)
-salt to taste
-1/2 tsp of baking powder
-oil for frying
Methods:
Grind soaked yellow split peas with curry leaves together until a coarse consistency is obtained..(I have not add water).but few tbsp can be added if finding difficulties to grind. But remember consistency should be dry. Add all the rest of the ingredients and mix. Make little balls Gato pima styles and fry in a medium to high heat until golden brown.. remove on a paper towel and Serve hot with baguette. Ps: an important key to consider -4 to 5 hours soaking only (for crunchy)-semolina for extra crunch. baking powder for dryness and prevent oil from absorbing, handfull of chopped watercress as well can be added.
