Mobile network MTN says it’s in the process of resolving a data outage in parts of Randburg and Cape Town after part of an overnight upgrade failed.
Network users reported bad signal and data problems since early on Thursday morning with some saying they had no 3G or LTE reception.
MTN spokesperson Jacqui O’Sullivan has apologized customers saying the problem will be resolved soon.
“While only the data service was affected, voice remains fully functional. Currently the system is coming back on line. The repair has been completed and we are seeing that most of Johannesburg coming back on line. We certainly do apologise to our customers for this data outage.”
