My Lord Nurtures Me

Allah’s Forgiveness and Mercy

Allah’s mercy and forgiveness are among the most profound aspects of His divine nature. As human beings, we constantly falter, yet Allah’s love and care for us remain unwavering. His mercy is vast and infinite, nurturing our souls, guiding us toward righteousness, and giving us countless chances to return to Him.

  1. Allah’s Mercy Encompasses Everything

One of the most powerful aspects of Allah’s mercy is its all-encompassing nature. No matter how great our sins may be, His mercy is greater. Allah Himself declares in the Quran:

وَرَحْمَتِى وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ ۚ

“My mercy encompasses all things…” (Al-A’raf 7: 156)

This means that there is no limit to Allah’s mercy — it reaches every creation, including the most sinful of human beings. If we turn to Him sincerely, He is always ready to forgive.

  1. Allah’s Forgiveness is Always Available

Unlike human beings, who may struggle to forgive repeatedly, Allah’s forgiveness is endless. He encourages us to seek His pardon, regardless of how often we err. The Prophet ﷺ conveyed Allah’s message:

“O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, if your sins were to reach the clouds of the sky and you were then to seek My forgiveness, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, if you were to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth, and you then met Me without associating any partners with Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it.” (Tirmidhi 3540)

This hadith illustrates the infinite depth of Allah’s mercy. Even if our sins were as vast as the sky, He would forgive us if we turned to Him sincerely.

  1. Allah Loves Those Who Repent

Seeking forgiveness is not just about avoiding punishment; it is a way to build a closer relationship with Allah ﷻ. In fact, He loves those who constantly repent:

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلتَّوَّٰبِينَ وَيُحِبُّ ٱلْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ

“Indeed, Allah loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves.” (Al-Baqarah 2:222)

Unlike human relationships, where repeated mistakes can lead to resentment, Allah loves His servants more when they sincerely repent. This is a unique form of divine nurturing, where mistakes become opportunities for growth rather than reasons for rejection.

  1. The Doors of Mercy Never Close

A beautiful hadith tells us that Allah’s mercy is so abundant that He keeps the doors of repentance open until our very last breath:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَقْبَلُ تَوْبَةَ الْعَبْدِ مَا لَمْ يُغَرْغِرْ

“Indeed, Allah accepts the repentance of the servant so long as his soul has not yet reached his throat.” (Sunan al-Tirmidhi, 3537)

This means that as long as we are alive, it is never too late to turn back to Allah ﷻ. No sin is too great, and no person is beyond redemption.

The Story of the Man Who Killed 99 People

A man once killed 99 people but later sought forgiveness. He was told that Allah ﷻ would forgive him if he sincerely repented and changed his ways. Before he could reach his destination of repentance, he died on the way, and Allah forgave him because his heart had changed. (Muslim, 2766)

Allah’s mercy is a never-ending source of hope for humanity. Unlike human beings, who may hold grudges, His forgiveness is boundless. He provides endless opportunities to return to Him, guides us through life’s challenges, and ultimately desires nothing but our salvation.

By understanding and embracing Allah’s mercy, we can live with hope, love, and trust in His eternal care. No matter how far we may have strayed, we can always turn back to Him, knowing that His doors of mercy never close.
