Nokia 3310 With 3G & Lite Social Media Capability on the Cards

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 01-10-2017

While Nokia’s nostalgic 3310 has made a huge impact, many users were left frustrated as the iconic device had to contend with a basic 2G modem and no access to social media platforms among other features many have gotten used with the advancement of mobile technology.

With many countries switching from the 2G network to 3G and 4G, a revamped Nokia is on the cards with 3G on board.

According to Stuff, this new 3310 will play nicely on more modern networks, including Australia, where the handset is launching first.

That new modem means the size has gone up, and battery life gone down which kind of defeats the point because the old 3310 was known for its long lasting battery life of up to a week. But that means a larger keypad for T9 texting, and support for lite versions of Facebook, Skype and Twitter.

The infamous “snake” game is not going anywhere and will continue to be available on the device.

The basic-as-bricks user interface (UI) can now be customised, swapping icon colours and positions so you can find your way around that little bit easier.

The new 3310 will also sport nee colours, Azure and charcoal.

The 3G 3310 will be on sale in the UK in early October, but there’s no word on prices just yet or when it will be available in South Africa. Just expect it to cost a bit more than the 2G-only original.
