Palestine Report

President Joe Biden announced on Friday a three-phase ceasefire plan to end the genocide in Gaza, Moulana Ebrahim Moosa said today on this week’s segment of the Palestine Report on Radio Islam International.

The first phase will consist of a complete ceasefire with the withdrawal of Israeli’s from the populated areas of Gaza, during which Hamas will be obligated to free women, children and elderly hostages in return for hundreds of political prisoners held in Israeli jails. During this period, it is indicated that as many as 600 trucks of humanitarian aid will be allowed to enter Gaza per day.

The second phase will entail a permanent end to hostilities, Moulana Moosa explained, emphasising the promise of a permanent end. It outlines the complete withdrawal of Israel from Gaza and the return of the remainder of Israeli hostages who are still alive.

The third phase, as contained in the proposal, will entail the reconstruction of Gaza and the return of any deceased Israelis from the enclave.

Hamas is reportedly obligated to fulfil its commitments as outlined in the deal, and failure to do so can result in the resumption of Israel’s military operations in Gaza. Egypt and Qatar have allegedly assured Biden that Hamas will comply.

Moulana Moosa noted that Israel has repackaged the proposal constructed by Hamas a few weeks ago and have placed the responsibility on Hamas to accept it.

The Hamas movement have reportedly expressed keenness to positively engage with the proposal but have not received a formal document yet.

Eyebrows have been raised at the curiosity of the President of America announcing an Israeli proposal

The announcement of an Israeli proposal by the president of American has raised eyebrows. During the announcement, President Biden said that there are some Israeli ministers who would not agree to the plan and would call for the war to continue indefinitely, which further raises concerns, Moulana Moosa said.

It appears that these factors point to a public admission of Israel’s military failure in Gaza.

Meanwhile, the Maldives has recently banned Israelis from entering the country due to escalating public anger in the country.

The ban is currently in the process of being signed into law and is a symbolic form of tangible protest against the atrocities carried out by Israelis in Gaza.

The Maldives, whose population is almost 100% Muslim, joins Algeria, Bangladesh, Brunei, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Syria, Pakistan, and Libya in preventing Israeli passport holders from entering the country.

Israel has recommended that its citizens, even those with dual citizenship, should not visit the country.
