- In addition to Qatari and Egyptian mediators, Israeli and American representatives participated in ceasefire discussions in Doha at the end of last week.
- An explosion in Tel Aviv, which was allegedly caused by a man in his 50s who was carrying a bomb, has stirred social media commentary on the resurgence of ‘martyrdom operations’.
- New poll indicates Israeli citizens’ support for rape and genocide.
Representatives of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas were not in attendance on the basis that the terms they have previously stated are clear. They have subsequently rejected the terms of the US hostage-ceasefire proposal as another ploy by Netanyahu to sabotage negotiations.
The proposal would give Israel control of the Rafah crossing, as well as limit civilian movement between southern and northern Gaza through Israel’s control of the “Netzarim Corridor”. Additionally, Netanyahu has set new conditions and overturned previous allowances in the prisoner exchange operation.
Another summit to discuss peace negotiations is set to take place in Cairo later this week.
Analysts indicate that Netanyahu continues to act with impunity because regional and international pressure is weak.
Additionally, Netanyahu has no intention to agreeing to a ceasefire deal because it simply does not suit his political interests.
“He [Netanyahu] knows that if a ceasefire is going to occur in Gaza, this would be the fall of his government,” Moulana Ebrahim Moosa said on this week’s Palestine Report on Radio Islam International.
Israel is oblivious to the declining global support for its nation, despite signs that it is in a state of collapse.
“Israel doesn’t feel as if it is under siege. It’s weathering it’s economic crisis and it’s able to sponge off the support that’s coming very willingly from its allies,” Moulana Moosa pointed out.
In the absence of resistance from Arab countries and Iran’s Hezbollah, Netanyahu feels emboldened to continue the genocide in Gaza.
“It is only through external intervention and a very deep Arab popular movement that will be able to potentially tip the scales here,” Moulana Moosa said.
An explosion in Tel Aviv, which was allegedly caused by a man in his 50s who was carrying a bomb, has stirred social media commentary on the resurgence of ‘martyrdom operations’.
Resistance movements like Hamas have developed their own military capacity and have stopped this tactic a long time ago.
A report published yesterday by the Institute for National Security Studies in Israel indicates that 65% of Israeli Jews believe that perpetrators of rape “should only be punished by the army, which is obviously to let them loose, and not face criminal charges,” Moulana Moosa said.
The same study indicates that almost half of the respondents do not need to obey international law for the duration of Israel’s current genocide on Gaza.
“These polls show quite clearly that it’s not a matter of one individual or one party in the Israel system. If there is such widespread support form the Israeli public, it shows a much more endemic problem in Israeli society, which thrives off genocide, racism, and Apartheid against the Palestinians,” Moulana Moosa said.
