Palestine Report

In Northern Gaza, the situation is extremely dire as Israel’s ongoing siege continues. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians face full-scale extermination following reports of intensified massacres in the area and evacuation orders from Israeli occupation forces (IOF). A message posted on social media on Saturday morning ordered the immediate evacuation of the ‘D5’ area in Gaza, which is described as “a dangerous combat zone”.

Israel’s most recent attack indicates the gradual implementation of former national security adviser and IDF operations chief Giora Eiland’s plan to remove all civilians from northern Gaza and thereafter impose a complete and indefinite siege by cutting off all essential supplies, including water, food and fuel. Those who remain in the area, Eiland warned, will be treated as enemies and face either starvation or surrender.

“This is not just aimed at defeat of Hamas fighters, but an entire plan to depopulate northern Gaza,” Moulana Ebrahim Moosa said during the Palestine Report on Radio Islam this morning.

The plan gained support from far-right Israeli Minister of Finance Bezalel Yoel Smotrich and Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, who expanded it to include the objective of developing Israeli settlements on the ruins of northern Gaza.

Moulana Moosa points to the continued resistance in the area, with many residents having remained there despite the extreme conditions they face.

“Many people would point to the plans that Israel had in this genocide being foiled effectively single-handedly over these months by the steadfastness of people in northern Gaza. The fact that they refused to move made it very hard for the Israelis to complete what they started at the start of this genocide,” Moulana Moosa said.

Over the last 9 days, Israel massacred at least 300 Palestinian people in northern Gaza. On the grounds of Al Aqsa Hospital in central Deir al Balah, where thousands of displaced Palestinians had set up tents, an Israeli airstrike in the early hours of this morning killed 4 people and sent the camp into flames.

Since October 1, 2024, no food has entered the area, with Israel having closed the main crossings into the north.

“There are bodies that are rotting in the streets with nobody being able to reach them or identify them,” Moulana Moosa said, describing the macabre lengths that the Israelis have resorted to, including releasing strange gases in the area over the past day, employing the use of quadcopters to shoot at random, as well as explosive robots to clear out certain areas.

It is critical to note, Moulana Moosa emphasised, the fact that Israeli hostages have “simply evaporated” from the discourse and Israel’s focus has shifted from supposedly obliterating Hamas to a clear plan to exterminate Palestinians from the area.

Meanwhile, in what has been described as a major intelligence breach, 4 Israeli soldiers were killed and more than 60 wounded by a drone launched by Hezbollah from southern Lebanon. The drone hit the Golani Brigade’s base on Sunday just after19h00.

“Hezbollah [have] said this was a qualitative and complex operation,” Moulana Moosa said, adding that the attack was achieved by firing both rockets and drones at the same time. The drones were undetected by Israeli missile defence systems, which were engaged in controlling the rockets.

The US had on the same day announced plans to send a new air defence system to Israel, as well as new personnel to operate the system.

Moulana Moosa pointed out that had the current system been as watertight as Israel had claimed, there would be no need for a new system with new troops to man it.

The Palestine Report also covered news about the continuing outflow of capital and personnel from Israel. A report from the Israeli-Mahdi newspaper reveals a sharp increase in emigration from Israel, with 40 000 Israelis permanently relocating in the first seven months of this year—more than three times the usual rate.

Additionally, over half a million Israelis have temporarily left the country due to safety concerns, seeking refuge abroad amidst escalating tensions. Nearly one million Israelis have acquired foreign passports in recent years, using them as a safeguard in case of a full-scale war. The newspaper poignantly stated that “the magic of Israel has expired” in the eyes of some Western elites, reflecting a significant shift in perception and national sentiment.

The exodus includes many of Israel’s brightest minds, leading to what is described as a “brain drain.” Among the emigrants are doctors, scientists, pharmacists, and high-tech professionals, many of whom have been lured by lucrative offers from foreign companies.

Financially, this shift has seen Israelis transfer over seven billion dollars abroad in the form of deposits. While this development indicates a disintegration within Israeli society and the Zionist project, some argue it allows those who benefited from the exploitation of Palestinians to continue living comfortably abroad, escaping the consequences of the region’s deepening conflict.
