Samsung has announced seven new smartphones that will join the Galaxy A range.

At a function in Sandton with a live stream from Hong Kong on Wednesday, Samsung says the A2 Core, A10, A20, A30, A50, A70 and the A80 have great specs, are more affordable and are aimed at the younger generation or mid-market segment.

At the same time Samsung has decided to discontinue its Galaxy J range, and merge it with the A range with support for the device continuing.

The A80 which is the flagship of the A series has a 6.7in bezel-less display with no notch giving the phone a full screen display.

It features a ‘Rotating camera’, that turns the back camera sensor to the front when enabled.

Holding up the Samsung Galaxy Fold, Samsung Africa CEO Sung Yoon says the company has been innovating for the last ten years.

“The Galaxy Fold is a game changer and that’s a true reflection of the Galaxy innovation and distinction. So you will see for the next ten years more innovation and distinction.”

The Galaxy A Series follows through on 10 Years of Galaxy Innovation.

The A2 Core, A10, A20, A30 and A50 will be available this week while the A70 will be available at the end of April and the A80 is expected to arrive in June 2019.

The price of the device range from:

R 3,000 for the A 20

R 4,500 for the A30

R 7,000 for the A50

R 8,000 for A70
