While the price of high-end smartphones keeps soaring, Samsung, is continuing to roll out the affordable Z4 smartphone powered by its very own Operating System (OS), Tizen in South Africa for cash strapped consumers.
According to Samsung, trading density data from property managers, Broll SA, has found that in the current economic environment, consumers are reportedly spending more on basic needs such as groceries and necessities and less on luxury goods and items, such as cell phones.
Samsung says the Tizen is made with the intention of making smartphones less complicated and more efficient, easy to understand and use.
Craige Fleischer, Director: Integrated Mobility, Samsung South Africa says the Tizen series has been instrumental in catalysing the smartphone upgrade and with Samsung Z4.
“It comes equipped with ‘double’ the usual benefits in terms of camera, flash and style and sports a 5MP front flash camera for selfies in all-light conditions.”
The Tizen technology also offers 3D window effects with support for apps and games that require advanced 3D graphics.
The dual LED flash on the 5MP rear camera clicks brighter images even in low light conditions and users get editing options within the camera view finder and features like beauty mode, live filters and profile template, ensure social media-ready enhanced images.
The Z4 comes with a 4.5” screen, 1.5 quad core processor, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal memory, which is further expandable up to 128 GB and is fuelled by a 2050 mAh long-lasting battery.
It also sports the ‘Turn up Music’ feature, powered by Tizen, which provides users with unlimited local music content.
The Z4 sells for a recommended retail price of R1,499
