Samsung has announced it will unveil its flagship Galaxy S9 at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain in February.
DJ Koh, president of Samsung’s mobile business made the announcement during a press conference for Koran media at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES2018) in Las Vegas.
There were rumors Samsung would unveil the phone at CES prior to the start of the show.
Specifications of the Samsung S9 leaked online indicate the device is set to feature a 5.8-inch QHD+ display, dual cameras in the Plus model, and a single 12MP main camera with an f/1.5 to f/2.4 aperture on the standard model.
The camera is touted to offer a “Super Slow-mo” mode, which will allow 120 frames per second 4K video recording.
It will also feature stereo speakers tuned by AKG, bundled earphones from AKG, and both models are set to offer headphone jacks.
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S8 last year at an Unpacked Event in March in New York and starting selling the device in April.
The unveiling of the Galaxy S9 comes a month earlier and sales will likely begin in March this year.
Koh also said that the company was planning to launch its foldable phone sometime next year.
