Samsung has won the award for the “Coolest Cell Phone” for the fifth year in a row and was voted the second “Coolest Brand” across all categories.

The announcement was made at the Sunday Times Generation Next Survey 2019, which keeps track of how youth interact with and respond to brands.

The survey, which covers brands from clothing and beauty products to tech, television shows and local celebrities, is the leading annual youth brand preference and consumer behaviour survey, polling over 5,500 youths aged eight to 23.

Samsung SA Chief Marketing Officer Cambridge Mokanyane says the awards validate their continued and dedicated focus on the nation’s youth.

“It’s always an honour to be considered for awards of this kind. Samsung’s focus is on creating brands and services that empower people to do more.”

Mokanyane says in a year when the company is also celebrating 25 years in South Africa, they are proud to see their vision of a generation empowered to achieve come to life.
