SAPS arrest invaders at Futululu Forest

By Goodhope Dlangamandla

The iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authorities have welcomed the move by the South African Police Service (SAPS) to arrest people who were invading a protected area known as Futululu forest, which is a state land managed by iSimangaliso Wetland Park, on the 16th of August 2022.

The event occurred after a group of people unlawfully invaded the forest, demanding the land for farming purposes and some stands be sold for residential purposes.

In a statement issued by the iSimangaliso Wetland Park authorities, they have warned public members not to be lured into buying stands and trespassing into Futululu forest as such action will be in contravention of the Pietermaritzburg High Court order and may lead to an arrest.

SAPS says they have arrested about 71 people.
