SOMALIA travel Diary of Ml Yusuf Omar, Would I still?

2011-10-05

As I walk through the various camps that I have visited, it makes me think what would life be like if I were in their shoes.Would I be the same arrogant, impatient, ungrateful person or would the circumstance soften me to the extent that I manage to put forth a warm welcoming smile like Somalia’s would…

Would I still be picky and choosy with my food, would I still frown in front of a five course meal, would I still complain that the three meals for the day were not upto standard…or would the empty, burnt, dusty dish humble me to the extent that joy cannot fully describe my expression when I receive my hamper from the ‘Al Imdaad Foundation’…

Would I still be concerned about one day owning a lavish house accessorised with the latest furniture, would I still worry about paying rent one day even though Allah has promised to take care of that…or would a 2 metre radius plastic structure supported by pieces of wood push me to treat my humble abode like gold under temperatures reaching 40 degrees…

Would my skiin being soft be of concern to me, would a few drops of perspiration irritate me, would a cough drive me to a doctor…or would the affliction of my little ones with dehydration, food poisoning and malnutrition instruct me to sit in front of a doctor in a mobile clinic with respect and humility happily appreciating what medicine I receive…

Enough of me…

What would you do?
