In the wake of recent events in Palestine, the dynamics in the Middle East have undergone a significant shift. James Dorsey, senior fellow at the National University of Singapore’s Middle East Institute, emphasised the profound implications of the escalating tensions in the Middle East Report on Radio Islam International.

The interview shed light on the increasingly complex landscape, highlighting the inability to de-escalate relations without addressing underlying issues. Dorsey underscored the revival of the Palestinian struggle in the global spotlight and the limitations of China’s influence in the region.

As Gaza braces for a potential Israeli ground invasion, the situation grows ever more precarious.

Amidst the turmoil, speculation surrounding a potential Saudi-Israeli deal has been the subject of debate. Dorsey suggested that while the deal may not be entirely dead, it has undoubtedly been placed on the back burner. He highlighted the objective of Saudi Arabia, which is to advance diplomatic relations with Israel and also to appear to support the Palestinian cause in the present situation.

The interview painted a grim picture of the region, where emotions of fear, anger, despair, and revenge reign supreme.
