Ummah In Crisis – The Plight Of Our Chinese Muslim Brothers and Sisters

By Mohamed Ameen Dabhelia

China’s massive 1.3 billion population is home to 10 million Uighurs; China’s biggest ethnic Muslim minority.

However in recent years they have been subject to persecution by the Communist government in Beijing.

The Uighurs predominantly live in China’s largest administrative division known as Xinjiang, they make up approximately 43.3% of the population in the administrative division.

Over recent years they have been subject to discriminatory laws with accusations ranging from “extremism” to “separatism”.

Moreover, legislation passed in the region has been accused of targeting Muslims as the month of Ramaḍan is banned, as well as other forms of persecution.

In this report I highlight the history of Chinese Muslims and how we need to stand up and be proactive in raising awareness.

There are millions of Muslims subjected to persecution on a regular basis and we do not even know of their situation.

By Allāh it is sad to hear Muslims saying that we can only make Dua as though it is something of small value when in reality it is our greatest asset and we should utilise it as much as we can – as the Prophet Muḥammad (SAW) said:

Nothing is more honourable to Allāh the Most High than dua.

May Allāh end the suffering of the Ummah of Muḥammad (sall Allāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam) and bring peace to the oppressed.

Ameen
