What Can I do for Al Aqsa and Palestine?

Du`a – Supplication

In times of misfortune and hardship, such as the war in Gaza and the ongoing terror that our Palestinian brothers and sisters are enduring, turning to prayer, explicitly making Du’a, is the only potent and comforting response. Du’a, is the act of supplication and heartfelt prayer to Allah. It is a deeply personal and profound way to seek comfort and guidance and pray for the better.

If the distressing situation in Gaza serves as the catalyst that pushes you to intensify your du’a, then let it be so. Let it be the trigger that reconnects you with your faith and the valuable teachings of Islam. These times of hardship for Palestinians can become moments of profound spiritual growth. Du’a is often described as the most potent weapon of a believer. It is a source of strength, hope, and resilience in hardship. During times of crisis, it becomes a beacon of light in the darkness, a lifeline that connects the heart to the Most Merciful.

Moreover, these moments of prayer are an opportunity for collective learning and growth. As a community, teaching one another how to make effective du’a is crucial. Encouraging families and communities to come together, share their experiences, and guide one another in prayer fosters unity and strength. By teaching each other the heartfelt prayer, we can collectively find comfort, resilience, and the ability to navigate the toughest challenges that Muslims worldwide are struggling with by witnessing the terror that is happening in Palestine.

Du’as to recite for Palestine and Gaza

  1. Dua for patience and victory for the Palestinian people

Our Lord! Shower them with perseverance, make their steps firm, and give them victory over the disbelieving people.

Inspired by verse 250 of Surah al-Baqarah, this du’a reminds us that Allah is always with us, penetrating our hearts with firmness and tranquility.

  1. Dua for the success of the Palestinians

رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِهِم فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِى ٱلأخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِهِم عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ

Our Lord! Grant them the good of this world and the Hereafter, and protect them from the torment of the Fire.

Inspired by verse 201 in Surah al-Baqarah, there is nothing better that we could ask for our brothers and sisters in Palestine than to be granted Paradise and saved from the Fire. As we watch events that seem unbearable unfold, we must remember that one dip in Jannah is all it takes for the cruelty and suffocation of this world to be forgotten.

  1. Du’a for their protection

O Allah, conceal their faults, calm their fears, and protect them from before them and behind them, from their right and from their left, and from above them.

Taken from the morning and evening remembrances of the Prophet ﷺ, this du’a seeks Allah’s protection from every direction. It is a befitting du’a for the people of Gaza, who are surrounded by hostility and violence.

Never lose hope in the help of Allah

As our tragedies increase and intensify, it can often feel difficult to retain hope and optimism. We may be wondering why we aren’t seeing the relief that we’ve been so intensely praying for.

While this feeling is, to some extent, entirely natural, we must remind ourselves that it is precisely at the time of our utter depletion that the help of Allah is nearest. It is precisely when we feel exhausted of all worldly solutions that His aid is most imminent and we truly begin to depend on Allah for a way out.

We should never lose hope in the help of Allah, and therefore should never stop making du’a for the people of Palestine.
