Sayiduna Hussain Radiyallahu Anhu was martyred at Karbala on the 10th of Muharram 61 AH. This was undoubtedly one of the saddest incidents in the history of Islam. Shimr Ibn Thil-Jawshan was responsible for this horrible and vile act. He was part of an army sent by Ubaidullah bin Ziyaad to stop Sayyidina Hussain Radiyallahu Anhu and his family from entering Kufa.
