In 1895, Shaykh Hajee Shah Goolam Mohammed Soofie Siddiui Habibi, known commonly as Soofie Saheb arrived on the shores of South Africa. He soon embarked on an ambitious programme of establishing Islamic institutions across Natal and beyond. It is remarkable to consider how much he achieved in just 15 years and how the institutions he established and their impact still live on today.
