There are many countries in the world where Muslims settled but after some time were completely swallowed by the dominant culture to the extent that today very few traces of Islam in those places remain. What made the settlement of Islam in South Africa different, so much so that Islam did not only survive here at the southern tip of the African continent but even thrived?
