Dadoo, an activist and national coordinator of the South African BDS coalition, spoke to Radio Islam International regarding the African States that have led the charge against Apartheid previously and could spearhead the boycott against Israel.

Last month, the Israeli diplomat was expelled from the African Union (AU). South Africa played a crucial role in the expulsion.

According to Dadoo, “The way in which Israel weaselled its way into trying to claim observer status has been exposed by countries including South Africa, not allowing them to do that. It was a unilateral decision of the chairperson of the commission without consultation, going against the tradition of the AU, which is to work by consensus.”

Recently, the current Israeli government has committed acts against the constitutions of the African Union. Dadoo says the BDS coalition demands that African countries ensure that Israel is expelled from the AU and has no place in the African continent. Israel’s relationship with the newly independent African countries is a strategy to win over governments and the people on the continent through sales of military equipment and spy wear under the guise of development projects.

Most African countries ousted Israel when journalists exposed the Israeli company, ‘Team Jorge’, that manipulated elections in African countries like Nigeria and Kenya.

Dadoo said, “Their involvement in Africa must continue to be exposed. We must continue to put pressure on our governments and expose the governments on our continent that are getting into close relations and normalization agreements with Apartheid Israel.”

Countries with relations to Israel must be pressured into boycotting Israel and pushing towards international sanctions. One of the reasons Israel is eager to win over Africa is because Africa has the most number of countries in the UN General Assembly, and they want to break the African vote that was always against Israeli motions and for Palestinian motions.
