Ingredients:
Basic dough (as above)
250ml (1cup) chopped dates
50g walnut / pecan nuts
Method:
Break off a piece of dough and slightly flatten in palm of hand. Place some chopped dates and nuts in the centre of dough; roll into a ball in palm of hands. Place on baking tray and bake at 180C for 20 minutes or until done. Roll balls in icing sugar when cooled.
Basic dough
Ingredients:
250g butter
250ml (1cup) icing sugar
500g (4 cups) cake flour
45ml (3Tbsp) maizena / cornflour
125ml (½ cup) oil
Method:
Cream butter and icing sugar. Sift in flour and maizena / cornflour and mix. Lastly add the oil and mix to form a soft dough.
