Educator and Founder of her homeschool in Kabul

By Neelam Rahim

Due to the delay in reopening some schools in the Afghani capital of Kabul, Sister Ayesha Farhat Safi took it upon herself to organize & run homeschool programs for young girls.

Radio Islam International speaks to her about the success of her teaching programs and the challenges she had to face.

According to Ayesha, through the recent happenings in Afghanistan. There has been a significant change in the country recently. The environment and life change for Afghan people, particularly for teenage girls.

“Having achieved a goal and graduating from University, I thought about these young girls in my country. I decided to bring change.”

Ayesha then started a homeschool from an empty hall space in her house. The girls from the area can participate in the homeschool, which is safe as it is from her home, she and her sister teach at the homeschool, and the subjects comprise the homeschool subjects from grade 7 to 12, including Islamic studies.

There are currently 60 students, with more wanting to join, but the space does not allow them as the school only caters for 60 students.

Regarding the founding and support of the school, Ayesha said there are no organizations involved in homeschooling. It is just her sister and herself.
