How To Overcome Living With Fear – Mufti Yusuf Moosagie

Jumuah Lecture Masjid Taqwaa – Roshnee
12th of August 2022

One of the greatest things affecting us these days is FEAR

Fear is an emotion created by our minds. Sometimes it is real, and sometimes it is imagined.

Fear is nothing but a state of mind.

There are different types of fears:

Fear of Poverty
Fear of Criticism
Fear of Poor Health
Fear of Loss of Love
Fear of Change
Fear of Old Age
Fear of Death
Fear of Failure

1) Have The Correct Perspective
The reason for fear is that we have a skewed perspective of a situation. Our fear is based on a wrong assumption.

2 Take time out
It’s impossible to think clearly when you’re flooded with fear or anxiety. The first thing to do is take time out so you can physically calm down

3 Make The Thikar of Allah
The remembrance of Allah brings immense peace and tranquillity.

4. Place Your Trust In Allah
There is comfort for the believer in the fact that everything comes from Allah, and He is in control of everything. We need to place our trust in the plan that Allah has for us. We must believe that ‘He has planned what is best for me.

5 Read The Following Dua:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْجُبْنِ وَالْبُخْلِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ غَلَبَةِ الدَّيْنِ وَقَهْرِ الرِّجَالِ ‏”‏ ‏
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and slackness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and niggardliness, and I seek in You from being overcome by debt and being put in subjection by men.”

Fear is part of being human; accept it and walk through it.

Fear does not stop death – it stops life.
