South Africa is waiting for results of a South African man who returned from India and tested positive for Covid-19.

The B.1.617, is the new Covid-19 variant that was first detected in India.

The B.1.617 variant has raised global concern after reports that people infected with the variant were found in 17 countries including Germany, Belgium, the UK, Switzerland, the US, Singapore and Fiji.

More than 20-million people in India have so far been infected.
